After celebrating its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September of last year, the independent cinema film Mile End Kicksis preparing to finally hit theaters, but first, it will make a stop at the SXSW 2026 Festival.

The feature film written and directed by Chandler Levack“follows a 24-year-old music critic [que] becomes romantically involved with members of an indie band that he decides to publicize, set in the Montreal indie music scene in 2011.”

The cast is headed by Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria), Devon Bostick (Crime 101), Stanley Simons (The Iron Claw), Juliette Gariépy (The red rooms), y Jay Baruchel (Fubar).

Ferreira plays the lead role as the music critic, Grace.

The young woman deals with life, love, professional disappointments and the consequences of a horrible experience from the past. Part romantic comedy, part coming-of-age story, the film is brilliant, funny, sexy and sad.

This is the second feature film written and directed by Levack. The filmmaker debuted in the long format in 2022 with I Like Movies.

Levack, who worked as a music critic before trying her luck behind the lens, has said she was inspired by her own experience to write the role of Grace. He wrote the script ten years ago.

Sumerian Pictures plans to theatrical release of Mile End Kicks for Friday April 17.
