Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sago

  • 1 bottle of red wine (of your choice)

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 3 cups of water

Directions

  • Start by washing the sago in cold water to remove any dirt. Let it soak in water for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • After the soaking time, drain the water and place the sago in a large pan. Add 3 cups of water and place over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. The sago is ready when the balls become transparent, this usually takes 20 to 30 minutes.
  • While the sago is cooking, in another pan, pour in the red wine and sugar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
  • When the sago is cooked, drain the excess water and transfer it to the pan with the sweetened wine. Cook over low heat for another 5 to 10 minutes, stirring constantly to ensure the sago absorbs the flavor of the wine.
  • After additional cooking time, turn off the heat and let the sago cool slightly before serving. You can serve the wine sago hot or cold, whichever you prefer. If you wish, you can also add some fresh fruit to decorate or accompany, such as strawberries, raspberries or blueberries.
  • Serve the wine sago as a dessert or accompaniment to other delicacies. If you prefer a sweeter version, you can adjust the amount of sugar according to your personal taste. Enjoy!
