Beth de Araujothe director of the talked-about 2022 drama, Soft & Quietis already in production on his next feature film, the suspense drama Josephinefor which he has signed up for leading roles Channing Tatum y Gemma Chan.
According to IndieWire, “For her next film, de Araújo once again explores her own life and the world around her to tell what we hope will be another chilling tale.”
SYNOPSIS:
“After witnessing a brutal attack in Golden Gate Park, eight-year-old Josephine finds herself in a maelstrom of fear and paranoia. She acts out with increasing violence, seeking any way to regain control of her own safety.”
The script was written by de Araújo. The director describes the story, which is based on a real-life childhood experience, such as “Taxi Driver meet The Kid with a Bike.”
Filming took place in and around San Francisco, CA from April to June.
De Araújo and producer David Kaplan confirmed to the outlet that the film is, “the story of a family dealing with personal trauma after seeing something unexpected and horrific in Golden Gate Park.”
Caplan added that the filmmaker has been trying to make the film for about a decade.
Tatum's most recent film projects include The Lost City, Dog, Magic Mike’s Last Danceand the newly released Fly Me to the Moon. For his part, Chan's latest includes Eternals, Don’t Worry Darlingand science fiction The Creator.
