With filming underway, the romantic crime thriller is announced, Carolina Caroline.
The leading roles are played by Samara Weaving (Ready Or Not, Scream VI), Kyle Gallner (Strange Darling, Scream 5, Smile), Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) y Jon Gries (The White Lotus), Deadline announced.
Adam Carter Rehmeier (Dinner In America) directs the script of Tom Dean.
Filming is currently taking place in Kentucky.
The film tells the story of a young woman (Weaving) who leaves her small town in search of her estranged mother (Sedgwick) alongside a charismatic con man (Gallner) on the run from the law. The duo leaves behind a wave of crime and passion as they speed across the Southeast.
Stephen Braun, Tim and Trevor White, Eric B. Fleischman and Chris Abernathy serve as producers on the film, with Jan McAdoo, Brittany Kahan Ward and Trent Hubbard serving as executive producers.
The outlet reveals that Verve Ventures, CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are co-representing the sales of rights for the global market.
Commenting on the work of his four protagonists, Rehmeier said in a press release:
“Samara and Kyle are delivering truly electric and nuanced performances that are thrilling, romantic, comedic and heartwarming in equal parts. It’s been inspiring to work with them, Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Gries, as well as my regular team of artists and the entire incredible crew on this project.”
Carolina Caroline marks a new collaboration between the director and Gallner, an actor who starred Dinner In America (2021) by Rehmeier. Braun and Fleischman produced the film.
