Last March it was announced that the acclaimed BBC original series, Peaky Blinderswill have a movie.
The feature film features the return of Steven Knightcreator of the series, and Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby. This same year, Murphy won his first Oscar for best actor for Oppenheimer.
With filming underway, Netflix share the first official look at Murphy in full characterization as Tommy Shelby. In a second image, we see Murphy and Knight posing together from the film set. Both images are available at the end of this note.
Tom Harperwho directed some episodes of the series Peaky Blindersdirects the feature film, from a script written by Knight.
Knight co-produces the feature film alongside Murphy, Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley. Executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.
In addition to Murphy, the cast features Rebecca Ferguson (Silo, Dune: Part Two), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin), y Tim Roth (Poison, Chronic). Details of their roles are currently being kept secret.
The series Peaky Blinders tells the story of Tommy Shelby (Murphy), and his family's rise to prominence and power, set against the backdrop of post-World War I working class Birmingham.
Murphy led the cast of the crime drama series, which ran for six seasons between 2013 and 2022. The first season (2013) aired on BBC, gaining international popularity after being acquired by Netflix in the fall of 2014, for its distribution outside the United Kingdom.
