Anna Kendrick crosses paths with a serial killer in trailer for true crime 'Woman of the Hour'

the movie Woman of the Hour marks her directorial debut Anna Kendrickactress best known for her roles in films such as Up in the Air, Pitch Perfect, A Simple Favor, The Accountant, Scott Pilgrim vs. the Worldto the saga Twilightamong many others.

Her directorial debut addresses the true crime genre, focusing on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcaláwho was in the middle of a killing spree when he appeared, participated in and won the dating TV show The Dating Game.

In addition to directing the feature film, Kendrick stars in it as Cheryl Bradshaw, an aspiring actress in Los Angeles in the 70s and one of the participants of the dating show, where she meets Alcalá (played by Daniel Zovatto).

SYNOPSIS:

“Woman of the Hour is set in 1970s Los Angeles, when an aspiring actress (Kendrick) crosses paths with a serial killer (Daniel Zovatto) on the set of the popular show The Dating Game.”

After celebrating its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2023, Woman of the Hour, titled The dating game killer in our market, it was acquired by Netflix to distribute it in the United States, and other international markets.

In Mexico and the rest of Latin America will be released directly in theaters by Diamond Films.

The latest in the marketing campaign focuses on the launch of the first full trailerafter having revealed a couple of teasers that you can see or see again here and here.

In addition to Kendrick and Zovatto, the cast includes Nicolette Robinson (One Night in Miami), Tony Hale (Veep), Jedidiah Goodacre (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Kelley Jakle (franchise Pitch Perfect), Max Lloyd-Jones (When Calls the Heart), Geoff Gustafson (Wilderness).

Kendrick directs the script of Ian MacAllister McDonald (Some Freaks). The script titled at that time Rodney & Sherylwas part of the 2017 Black List, a list that annually compiles the most liked unproduced scripts.

In addition to starring in and directing the film, Kendrick is a producer alongside Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Stephen Crawford, Andrew Deane, and JD Lifshitz.

Diamond Films releases it in Mexican theaters on October 10. Netflix releases it on October 18, 2024.
