After showing the first look at the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch At the last D23, Disney announced more news.

The Mouse House announced that the live-action film will be released in theaters on May 23, 2025. This was announced through a very small teaser on the studio's social networks.

The new version follows the line of the original film, released in 2002 written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois.

The plot revolves around 6-year-old Lilo and her older sister Nani, who live in Hawaii and adopt a blue alien creature nicknamed Stitch. Dean Fleischer (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) directs the script of Chris Kekaniokalani Bright.

In this live-action adaptation, Stitch will come to life using CGIwhile Lilo Pelekai is played by Maia Kealoha.

Sydney Agudong plays Nani in the live-action, with Chris Sanders reprising his voice role as Stitch. Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) plays Dr. Jumba Jookiba, the mad scientist who created Stitch. Billy Magnussen (Road House, Game Night) plays Agent Pleakley, a United Galactic Federation agent sent to find Dr. Jumba. Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story) plays Cobra Bubbles, the social worker in charge of Lilo. Tia Carrerewho voiced Nani in the original film, will play Mrs. Kekoa. Amy Hillwho voiced Sara Hasagawa in the original, joins the cast as Tūtū, alongside Jason Scott Leewho voiced David Kawena in the animated film.

Lilo & Stitch has had many spin-offs, including Stitch! The Movie, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitchy Leroy & Stitch. Lilo & Stitch: The Seriesa spin-off of a television show, aired on Disney Channel and ABC Kids from 2003 to 2006.
