'Monster' anthology season 3 adds Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams

After the audience success of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Storyfrom the co-creators Ryan Murphy e Ian Brennan, Netflix gave the green light to Monster as an anthology series, launching the development of two more seasons.

• The anthology aims “tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society.”

The first of them was Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Storywhich was released on the streamer on September 19. It was at the premiere of this installment where Murphy revealed that the third season is on the way.

Like the first season that revolved around Jeffrey Dahmer, The third season will focus on another serial killer, Edward Geinbetter known as “The Mad Butcher”, “The Plainfield Demon”, “The Plainfield Executioner”, among other nicknames.

Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim) was announced in recent weeks as the person in charge of playing Ed Gein.

And Hunnam will be in good company. Variety confirms the signing of three more actors. It is about Laurie Metcalf (Scream 2, Lady Bird, Roseanne), Tom Hollander (The White Lotus, Feud, Pride & Prejudice), y Olivia Williams (Dune: Prophecy, The Crown, The Sixth Sense).

Metcalf will play Augusta, Ed Gein's mother; Hollander to legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcok; Williams a Alma Reville, esposa de Hitchcock.

Ed Gein served as inspiration for the creation of some of the classic movie villainsas in the case of Norman Bates (Psycho), Leatherface (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre) y Buffalo Bill (The Silence of the Lambs).

Hitchcock is the director of Psychowhose plot revolves around Norman Bates, the disturbed character inspired by Ed Gein.

All seems to indicate that the third season of the Netflix anthology will delve into how Gein's crimes were an influence on Hitchcock and his film classic, Psycho.

Gein became famous in the 1950s when authorities discovered that he had not only murdered several people, but had also exhumed corpses from graves in a cemetery near his home and made all kinds of household items and clothing with human remains.

• This will be Metcalf and Williams' first collaboration with Murphy.
