HBO is having another hit on his hands, with The Penguinseries spinoff de The Batmancentered on Oz Cobblepot/Penguin, with the return of Colin Farrell in a leading role.

The series' plot is set one week after the climax of The Batman film, with a story exploring Oswald Cobblepot's place in the criminal underworld as Batman becomes a bigger threat to Gotham City's villains.

The series described as “Batman's epic crime saga,” will expand and develop Gotham's vision of Gotham City. Matt Reeves, while also seeking to leave its mark on the crime genre.

This vision, however, does not feature the return of one of the key pieces of Reeves' film: John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.

In the events of the film, The Penguin (Farrell) served as lieutenant of crime boss Carmine Falcone, who meets an untimely end.

Turturro decided not to reprise his role in the spinoff series The Penguinso the paper was recast and replaced by Mark Strong. The reasons for the change had not been discussed, until now Turturro offered an interview to Variety in which he spoke extensively about his most recent roles and his absence from the series.

The actor explained:

“I did what I wanted with the role. In the series, there was a lot of violence towards women, and that's not my thing.”

The cruelty of Carmine Falcone in The Batman More than illustrated, it is implicit:

“It happens off-screen,” Turturro says. “It's scarier that way.”

Turturro's other recent projects include the Apple TV+ series, Severancethe Oscar-winning stop-motion, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchiothe Prime Video series, Mr. & Mrs. Smithand Pedro Almodóvar's much talked about drama, The Room Next Door which is about to be released.

Regarding the series The PenguinPenguin is stepping up to lead Gotham City's crime scene. Although Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti) is not going to make things easy for you. Sofia plays Carmine Falcone's daughter.

Lauren LeFranc She is the showrunner and head writer. Craig Zobel (The Hunt) directed the first two episodes.

The series is broadcast linearly on HBO, as in MAXwith new episodes every week. The premiere is every Sunday sharp at 7pm central Mexico time. There are 8 episodes in total.

Reeves is executive producer, along with Farrell, LeFranc, Dylan Clark, Zobel, and Bill Carraro. Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios are the production companies.
