The multifaceted Denzel Washington revealed last November during the press tour of Gladiator IIwho is heading to Wakanda as a member of the cast of Black Panther 3a film that has just been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios.
Washington said that Ryan Coogler is writing a role for him in the project MCU.
Let's remember Washington's statements before moving on to the most recent ones:
“At this point in my career, I'm only interested in working with the best. I don't know how many more movies I'll make, probably not that many. I want to do things I haven't done. I played Othello at 22, now I'll do it at 70. After that, I'll play Hannibal. After that, I've been talking to Steve McQueen about a movie.”
“After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a role for me in the next Black Panther. After that, I'll make the movie Othello. After that, I'll do King Lear. After that, I will retire.”
After revealing to the world not only that there are plans to Black Panther 3but is joining said franchise, Washington behaved like a gentleman and started a conversation with Coogler to apologize for telling it (via Variety):
“Ryan is a genius. I called him and apologized for talking about the movieand there was sitting next to him, his beautiful wife. He is still Ryan, humble and full of ideas. Whatever you write, I will read.”
At the moment there are no details about Coogler's plans for black panther 3. The sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwas released in theaters in 2022, two years after the death of the protagonist, Chadwick Boseman. The sequel amassed a total of $850 million at the global box office.
