His projection in the NYFF 2025, scheduled for the Friday, October 10, 2025it will mark the Cooper's Dramatic World Comedy Premiere.
This also makes it clear that the movie Searchlight Pictures It will not participate in festivals such as the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) and Telluride, which are held prior to the NYFF, and will go directly to celebrate its World Cup premiere in New York.
As a curious fact, Cooper's previous feature film, Maestrowas presented at the NYFF 2023.
Cooper co -written the script of Is This Thing On? con Mark Chappell (See How They Run), and the protagonist of the film, Will Arnett.
The plot focuses on the medium age crisis of a New York comedian and is inspired by the real history of British comedian John Bishop, who is also an executive producer of the Searchlight Pictures film.
It is co -starring Arnett and Cooper himself, together with Laura Dern (Palm Royale, Marriage Story), Ciaran Hinds (Belfast, Anna), Sean Hayes (Will & Grace, Am I Ok?), Amy Sedaris (Clerks III, The Mandalorian) and the former NFL, Peyton Manning.
Official synopsis:
“The marriage of a couple falls apart while he pursues comedy in New York and she rediscovers. Together they learn to redefine their family relationship and dynamics amid great changes.”
Cooper produces the feature film with its company Lea Pictures, with Arnett, Kris Thykier and Weston Middleton as other producers. John Bishop and Caroline Jaczko are the executive producers.
The official NYFF website shares the following description:
“In two electrifying and deeply sincere performances, Will Arnett and Laura Dern interpret Alex and Tess Novak, whose marriage has reached a dead point. With a friendly pain, the couple, parents of two young children, agrees to separate. However, in the sharp comic drama of director Bradley Cooper, his separation leads to unpredictable reflections on themselves in the medium age, especially in the medium age Alex to become a confessional monologue in the West Village in New York, where he finds a new direction and camaraderie.
This seemingly extravagant scenario – with a script by Cooper, Arnett and Mark Chappell inspired by the real history of British comedian John Bishop – never looks for easy laugh, while Cooper uses his naturalism to give space to the actors to find their complex centers.
In his third feature film, beautifully lived after 'A Star is Born' and 'Maestro' (NYFF61), Cooper confirms its skill to represent the complexities of human relationsbuilding a film that is both lacerating and sweet, fun and tender. ”
The 63rd edition of the NYFF will be held from September 26 to October 13.
