In all this time, the filmmaker has been constant by saying that the version of The Marvels That the public saw was not the film that she proposed or filmed.

After that experience, Dacosta focused on other projects, such as Heddawhich is prepared for its World Premiere at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) in September, and where it again collaborates with Tessa Thompson as the protagonist, and also continued with the aforementioned 28 Years Later: The Bone Templeright now in its postproduction stage preparing for its cinemas in January 2026.

You really don't have to change it, Although I did it; Basically I asked for more infected. [Risas]. That was, in reality, my great contribution. ”

Dacosta explains the production process, and the collaboration with Boyle:

“I inherited an incredible cast, and then they gave me freedom to choose the distribution of the rest of the film. I inherited a couple of locations. They gave me freedom to develop others. Some overlapped, like Samson's character; Danny and I collaborated a little in aesthetics, but in the end, Danny Filma very differently from mine”.

Dacosta ends by adding that it was none other than the director of the acclaimed The Zone of Interest, Jonathan Glazerwho convinced her to make the sequel.
