“Survive 30 days while the world chases you.”

Paramount Pictures shared a new trailer for the reboot to the audience The Running Manfrom the filmmaker Edgar Wrightbased on the soon-to-be-released novel by Stephen King.

The film is based on King's 1982 novel, written under his pseudonym Richard Bachman, and marks the second time the story has been adapted for the big screen after the 1987 version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The plot of this new version, titled in our region The survivortakes place in a dystopian society, and stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a man forced to participate in a deadly televised game to win the money he desperately needs to save his family.

The contestants known as “runners” must survive the pursuit of professional assassins called Hunters. Whoever manages to survive 30 days wins a prize of one billion dollars.

This is a new adventure for Powell in action cinema after having done projects such as Twisters, Hit Man, y Top Gun: Maverick.

In addition to Powell in the title role, the cast features Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding), Josh Brolin (Sicario), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), y Michael Cera (The Phoenician Scheme).

The trailer previews intense chase scenes, high-tech stadiums and a dark vision of entertainment in a violent future. With its mix of dark satire, sci-fi action and social criticism, the new trailer promises a bold and intense update of a story that feels relevant in current times.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“In the near future, “The Survivor” is the highest-rated show on television: a deadly competition where the contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional killers. Every move is broadcast to a bloodthirsty audience and each day the cash reward increases. Desperate to save his sick daughter, Ben Richards (Glen Powell), a working-class man, is convinced by the charming but the show's ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), joins the game as a last resort. But Ben's rebellion, instincts and courage unexpectedly make him a fan favorite and a threat to the entire system. As ratings soar, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not only the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.”

This is Wright's most recent feature film, after directing Last Night in Soho (2021).

Wright co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs the World, 21 Jump Street, Project X). It is based on King's novel.

Wright is known for his unique style and snappy storytelling in films such as Baby Driver y Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It is said that his version of The Running Man is closer to King's original book, focusing on the desperate fight for survival rather than ostentatious spectacle.

The feature film is produced by Simon Kinberg, Nira Park, and Edgar Wright. Executive producers are George Linder, James Biddle, Rachel Prior, Audrey Chon, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary.

Paramount is scheduled to release The survivor in theaters on November 13 in Latin Americaand the November 14 in the United States. It will be available in premium formats, including IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema.
