Universal Pictures marketing campaign started Reminders of Hima film adaptation of the 2022 bestseller of the same name by Colleen Hooverwith the first looks at the protagonists Maika Monroe (Longlegs, It Follows), y Tyriq Withers (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Him).
The project was launched after the commercial success of It Ends With Usanother big screen adaptation of a Hoover novel. This is one of several adaptations based on Hoover's literary material underway in the film industry, others include
Her style focuses on romance genres, aimed at a youth audience.
Vanessa Caswill (Love at First Sight) directs from the script by Colleen Hoover and Lauren Levine. By the way, the film has an entirely female team of filmmakers.
Reminders of Him is described as “a transformative film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of love to heal even the most broken heart.”
Monroe will play Kenna Rowan, while Withers plays former professional athlete Ledger Ward.
The plot features a tragic accident that sends Kenna (Monroe) to prison and causes the death of her boyfriend Scotty (Rudy Pankow from the series Outer Banks). Seven years later, Kenna is released from prison and returns to her Wyoming hometown looking to rebuild her life and reunite with her young daughter, Diem, whom she never met.
Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) y Bradley Whitford (Get Out) play Diem's grandparents. Other cast members include Hilary Jardine (Van Helsing), Jennifer Robertson (Schitt's Creek), Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks), Lainey Wilson (Yellowstone), y Nicholas Duvernay (The White Lotus).
The grandparents in Diem's care reject Kenna's attempts to see her daughter. Eventually, Kenna finds compassion—and a forbidden romance—with Ledger (Withers), a former NFL player and local bar owner.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“After being released from prison, Kenna tries to reconnect with her daughter, but faces resistance from everyone except a bar owner who has ties to her daughter. Kenna must confront her past mistakes.
“As their secret romance develops, so do the dangers for both of them, leading Kenna to heartbreak and, ultimately, hope for a second chance.”
Production took place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The film offers a different genre for its protagonists. Both Monroe and Withers are no strangers to horror projects; Monroe has starred It Follows, Watcher, Longlegsand the upcoming remake The Hand that Rocks the Cradlewhile Withers was only seen this year in the sequel I Know What You Did Last Summer y HIM.

“I really wanted to try something totally different. I've been in the horror world for a long time, and this seemed like a 180 degree turn. I like to keep improving myself and getting out of my comfort zone.”

The bestseller published in 2022, has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States. Hoover is the author of novels such as It Ends With Us, It Starts With Us, Layla, Heart Bones, Regretting Youy Verity; These last two have been adapted to film and are ready for their arrival on the big screen: Regretting You will hit theaters this week, on October 23, while Verity –starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett–, will arrive on October 2, 2026.
The producers of Reminders of Him They include Hoover and Levine for Heartbones Entertainment, along with Gina Matthews for Little Engine. The executive producer is Robin Fisichella.
