'Monster' – Sarah Paulson will play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in season four

Sarah Paulson will extend its collaboration with Ryan Murphy joining another of his creations for television.

The actress has joined the fourth season of the anthology series Monsterfrom Murphy, Ian Brennan and Netflix, which will focus on the story of Lizzie Borden.

According to reports from Variety, the actress is very close to reaching an agreement to play the well-known serial killer Aileen Wuornos. And since the story will revolve around Lizzie Borden and the ax murder of her father and stepmother, the main focus will not be on Wuornos (Paulson), but it will serve to examine Borden's impact on the perception and connection with other murderers.

Aileen Wuornos was previously played by Charlize Theron in the film Monster (2003), which won her the Oscar for best actress in a leading role. Other actresses who have played her include Peyton List, Jean Smart and Lily Rabe. The latter characterized her for the fifth season of American Horror Story by Murphy.

Wuornos was convicted of the murder of seven men in Florida, where she was eventually executed in 2002. Since then, she has been the subject of numerous documentaries and books,

The production is already underway in Los Angeles.

The partnership between Paulson and Murphy dates back to the series Nip/Tuck. He later starred in multiple seasons of American Horror Story (Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse), and other Murphy series such as Feud: Bette and Joan, of the seasons American Crime Story, Ratchedand the recently released one, All’s Fair de Hulu.

Ella Beatty plays Lizzie Borden in the anthology, while Charlie Hunnam —who played Gein in the third season of Monster— plays his father, Andrew Jackson Borden. Besides, Rebecca Hall (The Night House) will play Lizzie's stepmother, Abby, and Billie Lourd (Scream Queens) to his sister, Emma Borden. Jessica Barden will be actress Nance O'Neill, Lizzie's friend, and Vicky Krieps (Monster: The Ed Gein Story) will play Bridget Sullivan, the Borden family's maid.

In addition to her work with Murphy, Paulson is recognized for her roles in series such as Mrs. America, Studio 60 on the Sunset Stripand movies like 12 Years a Slave, Glassy Ocean’s 8.
