We already have the first looks in official images of the new series of Prime Video, Shoe.

The small screen forensic mystery thriller adapts Patricia Cornwell's best-selling novels and stars Oscar and Emmy winner, Nicole Kidman.

Kidman plays Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a tireless medical examiner, who, with expert hands and a disturbing gaze, is determined to be the voice of the victims, unmask a serial killer and prove that the case that marked her career 28 years ago is not also her downfall.

With the background of modern forensic investigationthe series explores psychological complexities beyond the crime scene both of the perpetrators and the investigatorscreating a multidimensional thriller that examines the cost of seeking justice at all costs.

The dual narrative explores Kay Scarpetta's journey from her beginnings as chief coroner in the late '90s to her current return to her hometown in Virginia, where she resumes her old position while investigating a gruesome murder.

In her quest for justice, Kay must navigate complex relationships, including her tense relationship with her sister Dorothy Farinelli (played by Oscar and Emmy winner, Jamie Lee Curtis), confronting old professional and personal grudges, and confronting secrets that threaten to dismantle everything he has built.

Other cast members include Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Lucy Farinelli-Watson Dorothy's daughter, Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire) as former detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker (The Mentalist) as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, Rosy McEwen (The Alienist) as a young Kay, and Jake Cannavale –Bobby Cannavale's son– as a young Pete Marino.

In recurring roles we will see Bacon sauce (Smile, Mare of Easttown) as reporter Abby Turnball, Janet Montgomery (New Amsterdam) as Janet, Lucy's wife, Stephanie Faracy (Nobody Wants This) as Kay's assistant, Mike Vogel (Under the Dome) as lawyer Bill Boltz, and Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist) as a young Dorothy.

Liz Sarnoff (Barry) is the screenwriter and showrunner. Sarnoff developed the series and is one of the executive producers.

Kidman and Curtis executive produce the series, along with Cornwell, Sarnoff, Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, Chris McCumber, Per Saari, David Gordon Green, and Amy Sayres.

Curtis' Comet Pictures has secured the rights to adapt the novels about Kay Scarpetta in 2021.

The character of Scarpetta, created by Cornwell, was first introduced in the novel Postmortem 1990 and has appeared in almost 30 novels since then; the most recent, Identity Unknowny Sharp Forcewere published in fall 2024 and October 2025, respectively.

Filming took place in October 2024 in Nashville, and concluded in March of this year.

The series is already renewed for a second season.

The First season premieres March 11 on Prime Video all over the world.
