Paul Rudd y Jack Black they star in it, playing two best friends who try to remake Anacondaonly to end in true comic horror when everything goes wrong.

As you can see, this is not a remake of the '90s film, but rather a reimagination that takes a very meta approach.

The most recent news confirms that the Motion Picture Association (MPA), the organization in charge of granting age ratings to all film projects from major Hollywood studios, awarded Anaconda the Rated PG-13 by:

Violence/action, strong language, drug use and suggestive references.”

As a fact, we share that the original 1997 film was also classified as PG-13.

The new version focuses on a group of friends who are going through a midlife crisis and decide to remake their favorite movie from their youth. Black plays Doug, a wedding videographer, and Rudd is Griff, a supporting actor. However, when the friends enter the jungle, the situation quickly becomes complicated.

In addition to Rudd and Black, the cast includes Thank you Newton (Westworld), Steve Zahn (Silo), Selton Mello, Ione Skye (Say Anything), y Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad).

Tom Gormican (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) directs the project, with a script that Gormican co-wrote with Kevin Etten (Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F).

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Best friends Doug and Griff have always dreamed of remaking their favorite movie: the cinematic classic Anaconda. But things get serious when a giant anaconda appears, turning their chaotic and comical film set into a deadly situation. The movie they want to make? It could cost them their lives.”

According to Rudd, audiences will experience a multitude of emotions when watching the film. “You want to be scared,” he said. “You want to laugh. You want to celebrate with your friends. Maybe you're alone, sad and with no one, but you just want to forget it. It premieres on Christmas in 2025.”

Black describes the film to People as, “A thrilling mix of comedy and horror. Get ready for the adventure of the season! Anaconda is coming!” he tells EW: “It's a lot funnier than the original, but it retains a lot of the original vibes in terms of the scary parts. It's a real horror movie, but it also has some humor, for sure.”

The producers of the feature film are Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, with their company Fully Formed Entertainment.

In the original 1997 film, a film crew is taken hostage by a demented hunter, who forces them to join his quest to capture the world's largest and deadliest snake. It was directed by Luis Llosa, and featured an ensemble cast that included Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Owen Wilson and Danny Trejo.

Anaconda made way for three sequels, released between 2004 and 2009. In 2015 it made a crossover with Lake Placid.

Sony Pictures releases Anaconda in theaters December 25, 2025.
