Universal Pictures debuted on first official trailer from the rom-com One Night Onlystarring the Oscar nominee, Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown, Top Gun: Maverick), y Callum Turner (Eternity, Masters of the Air).
The trailer is the one released at CinemaCon 2026, which the studio finally makes public.
The film, titled in our region Just for one nighthas a premise that sounds clever and fun:
“On the only night when premarital sex is allowed, two strangers desperately search for a partner in their restrictive society.”
Will Gluck writes and directs the rom-com, after having gained experience in the genre with the surprise box office hit Anyone but You (2023), Easy A (2010), Friends with Benefits (2011), and comedy with projects such as and the animated franchise Peter Rabbit.
The trailer shows Barbaro telling Turner: “This is the best pizza I've ever had. I think it's better than sex… I don't remember.” The trailer then shows the frenetic energy of the night, with Barbaro lamenting, “Tonight is crazy. I just wanted to find a good guy.”
A flashback sequence reveals the couple's first meeting earlier that day, establishing the tense dynamic that defines their relationship. “Your legs don't make sense,” Turner's character tells him. Barbaro responds with equal wit: “Your hairline doesn't make sense either.”
The cast also includes Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), Molly Ringwald (Feud: Bette and Joan), LeVar Burton (Star Trek: Picard), Julia Fox (Him), Michelle Hurd (Anyone but You), It's Haim (Licorice Pizza) y Quintessa Swindell (Prime Target).
Gluck rewrote the original script Travis Brownwhich by the way, topped the Black List of 2024as the best unproduced script in Hollywood. It is unknown if Gluck's version will deviate from the original story.
Gluck had been analyzing options for his next project after the great success of Anyone but Youstarring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, finally being convinced with One Night Only.
The producers are Gluck, with his company Olive Bridge Entertainment, and Jacqueline Monetta.
Barbaro continues his rise following his Oscar-nominated performance in A Complete Unknown (2024) and breakthrough performance in Top Gun: Maverick (2022). In March of this year we saw her in theaters in the thriller Crime 101 de Amazon MGM Studios.
Turner just co-starred in the rom-com Eternity from A24, and the dark comedy Rosebush Pruning. Previously he was part of Masters of the Air.
Universal Pictures premieres the rom-com Just for one night he August 7, 2026 in theaters.
