Warner Bros. and DC Studios published the final trailer for Clayfacethe next installment of the DCU, which hits theaters on October 23.
This next installment of the DCU will take a dark turn being the first production of the horror genre of the renewed cinematographic universe. The film is directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake, Speak No Evil), with a script Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep) y Hossein Amini (Drive).
Tom Rhys Harries (The Gentlemen) takes the lead role as Matt Hagen/Clayface, the cult villain from Gotham's gallery of enemies who will now have his own solo film.
Inspired by the DC Comics characterthe plot revolves around the mutilation of Matt Hagen The promising Gotham City actor sleeps with the girlfriend of a local mafia boss, who, in retaliation, disfigures his face. Desperate for a solution, he contacts scientist Dr. Caitlyn Corr (Naomi Ackie, Blink Twice), who injects him with a serum with monstrous side effects.
The solution allows you to reshape your face and its shape, becoming a walking piece of clay. He is based on the supervillain who debuted in 1940's Detective Comics #440.
The plot is set prior to the events of Superman (2025).
The marketing campaign offers one last extended look at Clayfaceas the release date approaches. Trailer delves into Matt Hagen's origin storywith Harries showing more of the terrifying aspect of his character's bodily metamorphosis as he tries to put his body back together after suffering a brutal beating. Overwhelmed by his new reality, Hagen appears rubbing and deforming his face, even using scissors to open his eyelids when they close on their own. From there, he learns to control this ability, which will undoubtedly make him a terrifying figure in Gotham for the foreseeable future.

“Clayface” chronicles one man's horrific descent from a rising star in Hollywood to a monster thirsting for revenge, in a story that explores the loss of identity and humanity, corrosive love and the dark side of scientific ambition.
The cast also includes Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale), Eddie Marshall (Heartstopper), y Francesca Corney (The Buccaneers).
A BODY HORROR IN THE CRONENBERG
The feature film has been described as a film with “references and structure” to David Cronenberg's classic body horror, The Fly (1986)while DC's James Gunn had already anticipated that the film, Rated Res a “full-blown horror movie”“.
The producers are Matt Reeves, James Gunn, Peter Safran and Lynn Harris. Executive producers are Mike Flanagan, Rafi Crohn, Chantal Nong Vo, Paul Ritchie, Michael E. Uslan, and Lars P. Winther.
WB premieres Clayface in theaters October 23, 2026.
