The cast of the reboot Miami Vice of the director Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, F1: The Movie) and Universal Pictures continues to expand its cast.
The new version, with official title Miami Vice ’85incorporated Walton Goggins (Fallout, The White Lotus) in the role as a villain (via Deadline).
The actor joins a cast headed by Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) y Austin Butler (Elvis), as Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs and James “Sonny” Crockett, respectively, Alden Ehrenreich (Weapons, Oppenheimer), Whitney Peak (Molly’s Game), Camila Morrone (Something Very Bad is Going to Happen), Danny Ramirez (The Last of Us, Top Gun: Maverick), John Leguizamo (The Odyssey) in an antagonistic role, Andrew Schultz (Street Fighter) y Edi Gathegi (Superman).
According to information from the source, Goggins would play one of the henchmen of the cartel boss played by Leguizamo.
The production of Miami Vice It is scheduled to begin in November of this year in New York and Miami. It will be filmed for IMAX.
This new version, which adapts the classic TV series, explores the glamor and corruption of the mid-80s in Miami, and according to an official synopsis, it is “inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series that influenced culture and shaped everything from fashion to film”.
The script was written by And Gilroy (Nightcrawler, Andor), with a previous draft of Eric Warren Singer (Top Gun: Maverick, American Hustle), based on the characters created by Anthony Yerkovich for the original series.
Dylan Clark and Kosinski are the producers of the remake.
The premiere is scheduled for May 19, 2028 in theaters via Universal Pictures.
