We already have the first official trailer for the long-awaited new film adaptation of Narnia from the screenwriter and director Greta Gerwig (Barbie, Lady Bird) y Netflixtitled Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew.

The trailer makes a great invitation to the audience: to know the origin of a universe and discover how Narnia was born. The spectacular preview shows an image of the precise moment in which this universe is created.

The trailer is accompanied by the rock classic “Stairway to Heaven”whose use was approved by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, something of utmost importance, since both usually reject requests to use the song in audiovisual productions. They both gave in to Gerwig's request to use it to score the first trailer, after speaking with them about “many themes of the film. They saw the heart, the story and the dramatic component it contains,” the filmmaker told Stephen Colbert at the presentation of the trailer this morning.

Gerwig explained that “Stairway to Heaven” fits with her vision for the film, which adapts CS Lewis' Narnia origin story. “It's an epic song. It's about the two paths of good and evil… It's a spiritual quest and journey. So, to me, it was a song that made sense to introduce the movie to the world.”

Check out the preview and its incredible visuals at the end of the note.

In this installment, Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer embark on an otherworldly adventure and witness the creation of Narnia along the way. Thanks to the magical incursions of their uncle Andrew, they free the evil White Witch.
