Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 cup of natural yogurt

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 tablespoon powdered yeast

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a cake tin with butter or vegetable oil.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar and baking powder. 
    Make a hole in the center of the mixture.
  • In the hole, add the yogurt, vegetable oil, eggs and vanilla essence (if using).
  • With a fouet or a spoon, mix all the ingredients until you get a homogeneous mass. 
    Be sure not to overmix, just until all ingredients are incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and spread it out evenly.
  • Place the tin in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes. 
    Then transfer it to a cooling rack and let it cool completely before serving.
  • Yogurt cake can be served plain, dusted with icing sugar, or topped with a topping of your choice, such as chocolate sauce or lemon icing.
