Ingredients
1 kg of potatoes (peeled and cut into pieces)
2 tablespoons of butter
1/2 cup of milk
Salt and pepper to taste
500g ground meat (can be beef, pork or a mixture of both)
1 chopped onion
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 grated carrot
1 can of green corn (optional)
1 can of peas (optional)
1 cup tomato sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil for sautéing
Directions
- Start by preparing the mashed potatoes.
Cook the potatoes in boiling water with a little salt until they are soft.
Drain and mash the potatoes with a ricer or fork.
Add the butter, milk, salt and pepper, and mix well until you obtain a creamy puree.
Reserve. - In a large pan, heat some olive oil over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until golden. - Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is completely browned.
Make sure the meat is well shredded. - Add the grated carrot and tomato sauce to the meat.
If desired, add green corn and peas.
Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are soft and the sauce is well incorporated into the meat.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. - Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- In a dish or ovenproof dish, place a layer of mashed potatoes on the bottom.
- Then add the meat filling on top of the puree.
- Finish with another layer of mashed potatoes, spreading it evenly.
- If you wish, you can add grated cheese on top for gratin.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for around 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the hide is heated through.
- Remove from the oven and serve hot.
The meat hide is delicious and can be accompanied by a green salad for a complete meal.
