Ingredients
1 kg of potatoes (peeled and cut into cubes)
500 g of ground meat (can be beef, chicken or pork)
1 chopped onion
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 can of peeled tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
1 cup peas (optional)
1 cup green corn (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
200 g grated mozzarella cheese
50 g grated parmesan cheese
Green scent to taste (parsley and chives)
Directions
- Cook the potatoes in salted water until they are soft. Then, drain the water and mash the potatoes until puree. Reserve.
- In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and garlic until they are golden.
- Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is completely browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the peeled tomatoes (or tomato sauce), peas and green corn to the ground meat. Cook for a few minutes until everything is well mixed and the sauce has thickened a little.
- In an ovenproof dish, place a layer of mashed potatoes at the bottom.
- Then add the ground beef mixture over the puree.
- Cover the meat with another layer of mashed potatoes.
- Sprinkle the grated mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the puree.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 20-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
- Remove from the oven, sprinkle with green chillies to taste and serve hot.
