Follow the step-by-step preparation instructions to make your potato escondidinho. Use the ingredients below.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of potatoes (peeled and cut into cubes)

  • 500 g of ground meat (can be beef, chicken or pork)

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped

  • 1 can of peeled tomatoes (or tomato sauce)

  • 1 cup peas (optional)

  • 1 cup green corn (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 200 g grated mozzarella cheese

  • 50 g grated parmesan cheese

  • Green scent to taste (parsley and chives)

Directions

  • Cook the potatoes in salted water until they are soft. Then, drain the water and mash the potatoes until puree. Reserve.
  • In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and garlic until they are golden.
  • Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until it is completely browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the peeled tomatoes (or tomato sauce), peas and green corn to the ground meat. Cook for a few minutes until everything is well mixed and the sauce has thickened a little.
  • In an ovenproof dish, place a layer of mashed potatoes at the bottom.
  • Then add the ground beef mixture over the puree.
  • Cover the meat with another layer of mashed potatoes.
  • Sprinkle the grated mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the puree.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 20-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
  • Remove from the oven, sprinkle with green chillies to taste and serve hot.
