Ingredients

  • 1 kg of cassava, peeled and cut into pieces

  • 500g ground meat (can be beef, pork or chicken)

  • 1 medium onion chopped

  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped

  • 2 chopped tomatoes

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Chopped green chili to taste

  • 200g grated mozzarella cheese

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • 1 tablespoon of wheat flour

  • Olive oil to grease the refractory

Directions

  • Cook the cassava in boiling water until it is very soft. Drain and reserve.
  • In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
  • Add the ground beef and sauté until completely cooked. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and let cook for a few minutes until they start to break down.
  • Turn off the heat and add the chopped green chilli. Reserve.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a pan, heat the butter and add the wheat flour, stirring constantly until it forms a paste.
  • Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, until you obtain a homogeneous cream. Season with salt to taste.
  • In a refractory greased with olive oil, make a layer with half the cooked and mashed cassava.
  • Cover with the ground beef stew.
  • Spread the other half of the cassava over the stew.
  • Pour the cream and flour over the cassava.
  • Cover with grated mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and serve hot.
