We're going back to Westeros.
HBO revealed the official teaser trailer for the new prequel series Game of Thronestitled A Knight of the Seven Kingdomsfacing his premiere scheduled for January 2026.
The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, by its title in our region, it is an adaptation of the novel series Tales of Dunk and Egg of George R. R. Martinwhich currently consists of The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword y The Mystery Knight.
Martin co-created the series with Ira Parkerwho is also the showrunner. Parker was part of the writing team for the first season of House of the Dragon.
The first seasonof 6 episodes, adapts the first book, The Hedge Knightwith a story set in the same universe what Game of Thrones y House of the Dragon.
Before telling you about the teaser trailer, we share the official synopsis:
“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros… a young, naive but brave knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg… Set in a time when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the last dragon has not yet faded from living memory, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous deeds await. to these improbable and incomparable friends.”
To be precise, the timeline of The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms takes place 72 years after House of the Dragony 100 years before Game of Thrones. When we enter the world of A Knight of the Seven Kingdomsthe Targaryens will no longer have dragons as it will have been about 50 years since the death of the last creature. And then why are the Targaryens in charge?
In the purest style of GOT, The trailer presents a medieval world of knights, kings, squires, peasants, dragons and, if Egg is to be believed, at least one magical comet. The events will have a lot of knight training, jousting, a battle, a lot of rain, and mud.
The cast is made up Peter Claffey como Dunk/Ser Duncan the Tall, Dexter Sol Ansell like Egg, Find Bennett like Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford like Tanselle, and Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor “Brakspear” Targaryen.
And so you're not caught off guard: when this new prequel premieres, you'll instantly notice a big con GOT y HOTD: does not have an opening title sequence.

Instead of the animation that takes us to key points of Westeros accompanied by an orchestra, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be presented with a simple title card and medieval typography between the opening action of each episode. From here you are notified: We are facing something different from what was seen in the two previous series.something more in line with the scale of the short novels on which it is based.
“It is not the Game of Thrones extensive that we know and love; It's close and difficult,” Parker said in statements reported by Deadline. “We continue to flood this field with mud, dirt and shit… the pain, the agony, the irritation, the closeness; As soon as you put on a mask, the way you breathe changes. “We’re going to feel every grain of it.”
Executive producers are Martin, Parker, Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal, and Vincent Gerardis.
The first season concluded filming in September 2024. The series is scheduled to have lasting three seasons.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere the same year as the third and penultimate season of House of the Dragon –in production right now–.
He Premiere is scheduled for January 18, 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.
