After having received seven nominations for the 2025 Golden Globes this week, The Brutalist of A24 revealed the full trailer, ahead of its release in theaters this month.

The leading cast is made up of Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Felicity Jones (Theory of Everything), Guy Pearce (Memento) y Joe Alwyn (Kinds of Kindness).

The film by the writer and director Brady Corbet, chronicles the journey of Hungarian-born Jewish architect László Tóth (Brody), who emigrated to the United States in 1947. At first, he was forced to work in poverty, but soon landed a contract with shady benefactors when his talent is favored by ambitious aristocrat Harrison Lee Van Buren (Pearce).

The new trailer offers a closer look at Brody's leading man, as well as Jones, Pearce and Alwyn.

The film was shot in VistaVision, a cinematographic format that aims to project clear images in widescreen format without losing quality. It was created by Paramount Pictures.

Corbet wrote the story with Here Fastvold. They both co-wrote the scripts for The Sleepwalker (2014), The Childhood of a Leader (2015) y Vox Lux (2018). The first of them directed by Fastvold, and the other two directed by Corbet.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“When visionary architect László Toth and his wife Erzsébet flee postwar Europe in 1947 to rebuild their legacy and see the birth of modern America, their lives are changed by a mysterious, wealthy client.”

Corbet has spoken extensively about the financial difficulties he faced making the film (via Deadline):

“We are not reinventing the wheel. The reality is that we would have been happier and more comfortable if we had more money.”

“At times it took a great personal and physical toll due to the number of sleepless nights over the past seven years. “You have to have blind faith to get this thing, which is completely malnourished, to reach the goal.”

Filming took place partly in Hungary. The budget was less than $10 million dollars.

Corbet won the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Film Festival for his work on The Brutalist. The feature film has a duration of 215 minutes.

The Brutalist will be screened in 70mm prints in select theaters in the United States, where it will be distributed by A24. In Mexico and the rest of the Latin American market it will be distributed by Universal Pictures.

A24 premieres The Brutalist on December 19 under limited release in NY and LA. The wide release will come in January 2025.
