independent film company A24 will continue its great year of releases with the premiere of the gothic drama God’s Creaturesmade by Emily Watson (Chernobyl) y Paul Mescal (Normal People), what presented its first official trailer.
The Irish family drama is in charge of Saela Davis y Anna Rose Holmerwho collaborated on the script for The Fitsdirected by Holmer, and are now placed behind the lens together, marking Davis’s directorial debut.
The film, which follows a dangerous secret that threatens to unravel a family in an Irish fishing village, had a grand premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last May. Critics generally praised Mescal’s performance, with many predicting that a late September release from A24 could see the film become a sleeper hit during the fall movie season.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“God’s Creatures is set in a quiet, brooding Irish fishing village and follows the increasingly strained relationship between prodigal son Brian O’Hara (Mescal) and his mother, Aileen (Watson), when Brian suddenly returns home to his family after living in Australia for seven years. After Brian is framed for a heinous act against an old flame (Aisling Franciosi), Aileen is caught between protecting her beloved son and her own sense of right and wrong, which drives her almost insane.”
