El live-action de Masters of the Universe that Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films are preparing has just made a new signing.
It is about Alison Briewho will be playing the villain Evil-Lyn, according to THR reports.
In addition to those previously announced, Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You) like He-Man already Camila Mendes (RiverdaleDo Revenge, Upgraded) as the warrior Teela.
Travis Knight (BumblebeeKubo and the Two Strings) will direct the script written by Chris ButlerThere was previously a script draft written by David Callaham, Aaron Nee, and Adam Nee.
“The film follows ten-year-old Prince Adam, who has crash-landed on Earth in a spaceship and is separated from his magical Power Sword, his only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down nearly two decades later, Prince Adam is transported back through space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.
“But to defeat a villain so powerful, Prince Adam must first uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe.”
Evil-Lyn is Skeletor's second-in-command and uses a wand with a crystal orb to practice the dark arts. Meg Foster portrayed the character in the 1987 live-action film.
Brie can now be seen in the Peacock limited series, Apples Never FallShe is known for her roles in the series Community, GLOWy Mad Men. Most recently he starred in the action comedy Freelancethe romantic drama Somebody I Used to Know where she co-wrote the script and served as executive producer. She previously appeared in the thriller The Rental, the rom-com Happiest Seasonand the Oscar-winning drama, Promising Young Woman.
The film is based on the popular and well-known toy franchise from Mattel. In the 1980s it had an animated series, while in 1987 it was adapted for the first time to the big screen in live action, starring Dolph Lundgren.
Masters of the Universe was previously in development at Sony Pictures and Netflix before ending up at Amazon MGM Studios. It is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films.
They are Theatrical release is set for June 5, 2026.
