Marissa Stapley's best-selling novel Luckyhas obtained the green light from Apple TV+ to become a series, according to THR reports.

Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa, The Queen’s Gambit) has been signed as protagonist and executive producer. Reese Witherspoon will be another of the executive producers with her company Hello Sunshine. The novel was a 2021 Witherspoon Book Club selection.

Apple Studios is the studio that supports the television project.

Jonathan Tropper (See, Your Friends & Neigbhors) is the creator of the series and will be co-showrunner along with Cassie Pappas (Silo, Griselda).

The miniseries will mark Taylor-Joy's second project with Apple, after starring in the feature film The Gorgewhich will premiere in 2025.

On the other hand, Witherspoon collaborates with Apple TV+ as the protagonist and executive producer of the acclaimed series The Morning Show.

In LuckyTaylor-Joy will play a young woman who grew up in a life of crime but has left that world behind. He must accept his darkest and most criminal side once again in a desperate attempt to escape his past.

Witherspoon shared in a statement to the media:

It's incredibly rewarding to be able to amplify these stories centered on women and their authors., see our community connect with them and then watch them take on a whole new life on screen.

We couldn't be more excited to partner with Apple TV+ and the incomparable Anya Taylor-Joy, plus our brilliant creator Jonathan Tropper and his wonderful co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to bring this captivating series based on Marissa Stapley's fantastic novel to audiences of everyone.”

Taylor-Joy joined in saying:

“Hello Sunshine continues to do fantastic work championing women’s voices and I’m thrilled to join the team alongside Jonathan, Cassie and Apple TV+ to bring Lucky to life.”

Tropper will also executive produce alongside Pappas, Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine's Lauren Nestadter, and Taylor-Joy for her company LadyKiller.

Some of Taylor-Joy's recent credits include The Menu, Dune: Part Twoy Furious. We will see it soon in Sacrifice alongside Salma Hayek, Chris Evans and Brendan Fraser. She is a SAG, Golden Globe and Critics Choice winner for her work in The Queen’s Gambit.
