The beloved and popular series of Apple TV, Shrinking (Filterless therapy in our region), has been renewed by the streamer for a fourth seasonaccording to reports from the platform's official site.
The renewal comes on the eve of the premiere of the third season, which returns this Wednesday, January 28, with the launch of the first hour-long episode. The third season consists of 11 episodes that will debut weekly until the season finale on April 8.
The series co-created by Jason Segel, Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso), y Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso), will feature the returns of Segel, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Lukita Maxwell, Michael Urie, Luke Tenniey Ted McGinley.
Segel, Ford, Urie and Williams have all received Emmy nominations for their performances in Shrinking.
Shrinking centers its plot on Jimmy (Segel), a grieving therapist who begins to break the rules and give his patients his honest opinionignoring their training and ethics. Jimmy must face the consequences of doing unconventional therapy, which his close circle calls el “Jimmying”.
After the first season established the extent of Jimmy's grief following the death of his wife, as well as the connections he has with his co-workers, his daughter Alice (Maxwell), his best friend Brian (Urie) and others, the second season focused on forgiveness. Louis (Goldstein) entered the picture as the drunk driver who caused the death of Jimmy's wife in a car accident, but many other characters also had their own story arcs about forgiveness.
Creator Bill Lawrence stated in a season two postmortem interview that “moving on” is the theme of the third season.

In addition to the main cast, guest stars for the third season include Goldstein (Ted Lasso), who debuted in the second season as Louis Winston, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick y Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), and new additions such as Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) giving life to Jimmy's dad, Sherry Cola (Nobody Wants This), Isabella Gomez (One Day at a Time), and five-time Emmy winner, Michael J. Fox (Back to the Future), Coming out of his five-year retirement to play a role related to the Parkinson's disease of the character Paul Rhoades (Ford).
Segel, Goldstein, and Lawrence serve as executive producers alongside Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Rachna Fruchbom, Brian Gallivan, and Annie Mebane. Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley join as executive producers for season three. Warner Bros. Television produces the series for Apple TV.
