The legendary Barbra Streisand It could be part of the 2026 Oscar ceremony, planned to take place on Sunday, March 15.

The producers of the Academy Award are in talks with Streisand, to have her sing on stage during the In Memoriam segmentin honor of Robert Redfordhis great friend and co-star in the classic film, The Way We Were. It has not been decided whether the segment would be performed solely by Streisand, or if other artists would join her. Details continue to be discussed, according to reports from Page Six.

The last time Streisand performed at the Oscars was in 2013. On that occasion she performed “The Way We Were” in honor of the song's composer, Marvin Hamlisch, who had died in August 2012. Her performance was as part of the In Memoriam.

Redford died last September at the age of 89. The iconic actor, director, producer and activist was remembered by Streisand, who, through a message on Instagram, spoke about her time with him during the filming of The Way We Wereas well as the last time they saw each other: “Every day on the set was exciting, intense and pure joy. We were so opposite: he came from the world of horses; I was allergic to them! Yes, we kept trying to get to know each other better, just like the characters in the movie. Bob was charismatic, intelligent, intense, always interesting, and one of the best actors ever. The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we talked about art and we decided to send each other our first drawings. He was unique and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him.”

The 98th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will be held on March 15 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live on ABC and will be broadcast on Hulu in the United States, and on TNT and HBO Max in Latin America.
