Your favorite ghost is back, in the second trailer of the long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (before Beetlejuice 2), sequel to the 1988 cult classic Tim Burton y Warner Bros.

The new installment features the return of Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Haray Winona Ryderreprising their roles as Beetlejuice, Lydia Deetz, and Delia Deetz, respectively. New additions include Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI), Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Mafia Mom), y Willem Dafoe (Poor Things).

Ortega plays Astrid, Lydia Deetz's (Ryder) daughter, Theroux plays Rory, Lydia's manager and fiancé, Bellucci plays Delores, Beetlejuice's wife, and Dafoe plays Wolf Jackson, a B-rated action star who, after his death, becomes a supernatural police officer and head of the Afterlife Crimes Unit.

The sequel will premiere on August 28 at the Venice Film Festival, where it will be the opening film of the 81st edition. It will be screened out of competition at the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido, with its cast present.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return to their home in Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife accidentally opens. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his own brand of chaos.”

The original tape, Beetlejuice, followed the spirits of a deceased couple who are harassed by an unbearable family who have moved into their home. The couple hires a malicious spirit in the form of Beetlejuice to drive them out. Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara starred in the film, which grossed over $75 million at the global box office (not adjusted for inflation).

Burton directs the script by Alfred Gough (Wednesday) and Miles Millar (Wednesday). The film's producers are BurtonDede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Marc Toberoff, and Tommy Harper, with Gough, Millar, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg, Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, Larry Wilson, Laurence Senelick, and Brad Pitt serving as executive producers.

Danny Elfman also returns as composer of the original soundtrack.

Warner Bros. will release the highly anticipated sequel to Beetlejuice he September 4 in the international market, and September 6 in the United States.
