In addition to enjoying him on the small screen in his return as Pennywise in the HBO series, IT: Welcome to DerrySoon we will also be able to enjoy Bill Skarsgård on the big screen, with the film project Dead Man’s Wire of Gus Van Sant.

This is Van Sant's first feature film in seven years.

The biographical film this based on the true story of conspiracy theorist Tony Kiritsiswho in 1977, entered the offices of the Meridian Morgage Company in Indianapolis with a sawed-off shotgun to take its president (played by Dacre Montgomery of Stranger Things), alleging that the tycoon had defrauded him of his mortgage payments.

Dead Man’s Wire screened at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals, and is one of the first-time distributor's high-profile releases Row K Entertainment.

The main cast also includes Cary Elwes (Saw), Myha'la (Industry, Bodies Bodies Bodies), Colman Domingo (The Running Man), y Al Pacino.

Van Sant directs the script written by the debutant Austin Kolodney.

SYNOPSIS:

“An armed man breaks into the offices of a mortgage company and takes the president of the company hostage, threatening him with a shotgun connected to his own neck by a wire mechanism.”

Prior to the screening in Venice, the director told the media about his project:

“There are extreme reactions to certain things, which I can't always understand, across generations. That happened after we scheduled the movie; it was in December, during the shooting of [Luigi] Mangione, and we had started right before, in September, and we were moving to Louisville, Kentucky, where we were filming. We realized we were doing something similar. “I was talking to almost everyone my age about accepting that particular Mangione incident and who the CEO of the healthcare company was, and the person I was talking to had friends who knew him.”

Dead Man’s Wire opens in theaters on December 12 under limited releasecon wide release scheduled for January 16, 2026.
