From is Friday March 17, 2023you will find in Prime Video the Serie Swarm co-created by Donald Glover (Atlanta) y Janine Nabers (Watchmen, Atlanta), which portrays “a fan’s obsession with a pop star that takes a sinister turn.”
The streamer’s newly released first promo clip focuses on Billie Eilishthe Grammy-winning singer who will be trying her hand at acting in the series starring Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah).
Fishback plays Dre, a young woman who has a fan account in support of the world’s biggest pop star, whose fandom is nicknamed “The Swarm” (the swarm, for its Spanish translation).
The plot, set between 2016 and 2018, follows the lonely and lost Dre, as he embarks on a cross-country journey that sees him slowly lose his sanity, and participate in multiple bloody murders. The trailer, which is accompanied by the Pixies’ song “Where is My Mind,” hints at a wild ride for Dre with plenty of nods to modern celebrity culture.
Eilish for her part, gives life to the dean of a female cultapparently inspired by the real-life NVIXM sect, which has caused quite a bit of controversy in recent years.
In addition to Fishback and Eilish, other cast members include Chlöe Bailey y Damson Idris in star guest roles, Rickey Thompson, Paris Jackson, Rory Culkin, Kiersey Clemons, y Byron BowersThey will also appear in the first season.
Nabers is the showrunner of the series, while Glover is directing the pilot episode.. Both are executive producers along with Stephen Glover, Fam Udeorji, Steven Prinz, and Michael Schaefer. Fishback is the producer. Gilga and Amazon Studios are the production companies.
The world premiere of Swarm was held this week at the 2023 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas on opening night. The 7 episodes that make up the first season will premiere simultaneously this March 17, 2023.
