Ingredients
500g fresh strawberries
1 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
Directions
- Wash the strawberries well, remove the leaves and cut them into small pieces.
- In a saucepan, mix the chopped strawberries with the sugar and lemon juice.
- Place the pan over medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries are soft and release their liquid.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water until completely dissolved.
- Add the cornstarch mixture to the strawberries in the pan, stirring constantly.
- Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, until the filling thickens.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely before using as a filling for the cake.
