Some time ago (more exactly two months) I released the two albums by the girls from Automaticand on this occasion I also promised to share Blackblack, a band that the Dompé sisters shared before Lola formed the automatics.

As a promise is a debt, today it is the turn of the first-born of Kevin Haskins' family to show up here with the first, only and eponymous album of his group, which in addition to the youngest also had Diva's then-boyfriend, Alex Greenwald, in its lineup. (from Phantom Planet, remember them?).

Blackblackthe album, doesn't sound remotely like Automatic (despite the same fixation with science fiction in the themes) or Diva's musical works from then on (she played with Pocahaunted in parallel to her solo career – more focused on electronic mixes with whatever came to mind, from African percussions to gothic darkness – and then, as far as I know, he recorded meditation albums…).

Here the parade is basically indie rock with an experimental bias, crooked and sloppy, with clear influence from Pavement e Deerhoof but it really reminds one Atlas Sound (laughs) noisier, as it has the same homemade and lo-fi feel as Bradford Cox's 'project'.

However, these references are more to guide the idea, since at the end of the day what really matters is listening to the parade. That said, turn up the volume, whip out Blackblack and confirm that, as I wrote in the text about Automatic, genetics always wins. Whether the deniers like it or not.
