After winning the first leg 2-0, the Citizens ended the duel in the first half with goals from Omar Marmoush (twice) and Tijjani Reijnders. The Magpies' goal was scored by Anthony Elanga.

With the result, Manchester City will face Arsenal in the English League Cup final, on March 22, at Wembley Stadium, in London (ING). The Gunners overcame Chelsea in the other semi-final after winning both games 3-2 and 1-0 respectively.

French Cup

With a great goalEndrick decided Lyon's classification against Laval, in the round of 16 of the French Cup. The duel ended 2-0 for the young Brazilian striker's club. In the second half of the match between Lyon and Laval, Endrick dribbled past the marker and shot to score. In the last move, Afonso Moreira took advantage of the goalkeeper's error to close the score.

In Spain, two games moved the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey. Away from home, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad beat Valencia and Deportivo Alavés 2-1 and 3-2, respectively.
