Ingredients

  • For the caramelized banana:
  • 3 ripe bananas, cut into slices

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of water

  • For the cake batter:
  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup softened butter

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

  • 1 cup of natural yogurt

Directions

  • For the caramelized banana:
  • In a pan, mix the sugar and water.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns golden in color.
  • Add the banana slices and cook for a few minutes until the bananas are caramelized.
  • Remove from heat and set aside.
  • For the cake batter:
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. 
    Grease a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with flour.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. 
    Reserve.
  • In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until you obtain a creamy mixture.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 
    Add the vanilla and mix.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the yogurt. 
    Start and end with the dry ingredients.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. 
    Place the caramelized bananas over the dough.
  • Cover with the remaining dough.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool for a few minutes before unmolding.
