Leigh Whannellco-creator of the horror franchises Saw e Insidiousdirector of Insidious: Chapter 3, Upgrade and the remake The Invisible Manreturns this year with another project that keeps the audience in suspense.

Empire Magazine shares a new image of Blake, Abbott's character, who is seen in serious trouble. The image is below.
For the same media, Whannell explained the differences between his previous projects and the remake of The werewolf:
“Upgrade It was more sci-fi and action. I was watching a lot of domestic thrillers when I wrote The Invisible Manbecause I love that genre. [El hombre lobo] It's like me saying, 'I just wanted to do something that was straight up, pure horror.'”.
Abbott's Blake is a family man who, on his journey back to his childhood home, is attacked by something, which eventually causes him to transform into something beastly.
Whannell continued:
“I consider it a complementary piece to The Invisible Man. I didn't want this movie to be nostalgic or a retro Werewolf movie in any sense.. I was actually writing down in my notebook everything that had been done and then I would say, 'Well, that's the list of what not to do. ' I hope that when people come in and say, 'Wow, I've never seen that werewolf movie,' when the lights go on.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“Christopher Abbott stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father who inherits his childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father goes missing and is presumed dead. As his marriage to his powerful wife, Charlotte, frays, Blake convinces Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger.
But as the family approaches the cottage in the dead of night, they are attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate attempt to escape, they barricade themselves inside the house while the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night progresses, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide if the terror inside her house is more lethal than the danger outside.
The script was written by Whannell & Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angel (Dumb Money).
Matilda Firth (Coma, Hullraisers) y Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale, Devil in Ohio), complete the cast of the film.
- The project marks Whannell's second collaboration within Universal's monster universe, having made the acclaimed remake The Invisible Man (2020).
- It is the fourth collaboration between Whannell and Blumhouse (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

ABOUT UNIVERSAL'S MONSTROUS UNIVERSE
Universal Pictures' monster universe kicked off after the studio scrapped the Dark Universe and its plans for an interconnected monster universe following the failure of the reboot of The MummySince then, the studio has focused on finding viable ways to keep monster characters relevant for a new generation.
The Universal Monster films are rooted in the horror genre, with no restrictions of budget, rating or genre. They are not part of a shared interconnected universe, allowing each film to stand on its own. This new direction is filmmaker-driven and invites innovative filmmakers with original and bold ideas to develop the stories and present these characters. This means that filmmakers will be able to take liberties with the interpretation of the stories to bring them to contemporary audiences.
Universal Pictures set the theatrical release of Wolf Man by January 17, 2025.
