James Gunn is preparing a new installment of Supermanwhich will mark a reboot for the new DC Universe.

Gunn's filming is currently active in Cleveland, Ohio, where several images have emerged offering glimpses of what the protagonist looks like, David Corenswetwearing the superhero costume and his characterization as Clark Kent.

In those same images you could see Will Reeveyoungest son of Christopher Reeve. Will works as a correspondent for ABC News, and now it has been confirmed, will be making a cameo in the DC Studios film playing a television reporter (via Variety).

This is a way to pay tribute to the memory of Christopher Reeve, the beloved actor who played the Man of Steel in the first four superhero films, and who died on October 10, 2004 at the age of 52, due to heart failure. In May 1995, Reeve was paralyzed as a result of a horseback riding accident near Culpeper, Virginia.

The film is written and directed by Gunn, the co-president of Warner Bros.' DC Studios. His Theatrical release is set for July 11, 2025.

Will Reeve and his older siblings Matthew and Alexandra have had the superhero on their minds lately thanks to the documentary Super/Man by Ian Bonhote and Peter Ettedgui, which chronicles the life and career of their late father. The documentary explores the actor's rise to Hollywood icon status and the near-fatal horse riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Super/Man premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where Warner Bros. Discovery acquired it for approximately $15 million. The documentary will be released in theaters on September 21.

In an interview with Variety at the Sundance Film Festival, Will commented:

“Most of my memories of my father involve him after the accident because I was not yet three years old when he was injured. So to see his entire life up to that point presented so poetically, cinematically and authentically by our wonderful directors has been a real gift for me.”
