Over the past weekend, the dystopian action drama, Civil Warfrom the screenwriter and director Alex Garlandthe independent film studio A24which offers a terrifying vision of America's near future.
The film's plot is set in a dystopian United States where a violent conflict breaks out that divides the nation. The story revolves around a grim state with 19 of the country's states, separated, and the US military stepping up, introducing something known as the “Western Forces” of California and Texas (yes, CA and TX united), as well as the “Florida Alliance.”
The audience has given a big yes to Garland's film, going to movie theaters to witness the filmmaker's latest work. The figures for its premiere have already been revealed: Civil War had a $25.7 million launch, breaking a record for A24 as the independent film studio's biggest opening of all time..
