A24 and the filmmaker Alex Garlandthey have the action drama going Civil Wara dystopian film that offers a terrifying vision of a near-future United States.
Contrary to recent reports, it has just been confirmed that Garland's film, set in a dystopian US where a violent conflict breaks out, It lasts 109 minutes. While IMDb incorrectly lists a running time of 3 hours and 15 minutes, A24 confirmed to Variety that the film is less than two hours long.
The film written and directed by Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Menand the series Devs)stars Kirsten Dunst (The Power of the Dog, Hidden Figures), Nick Offerman (Origin, Devs), Jesse Plemons (Killers of the Flower Moon, The Power of the Dog), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Alien: Romulus), Wagner Moura (The Gray Man, Shining Girls, Narcos), Stephen McKinley (Beau is Afraid, Devs), Karl Glusman (The Bikeriders, Watcher) y Sonoya Minuzo (House of the Dragon, Devs, Ex Machina).
At the moment the plot of the film is kept secret, but we do have a logline that describes it like this:
“A race to the White House in a near-future America that is balanced on a knife's edge.”
The trailer revealed a few days ago offers some answers about the grim state of things, with 19 of the country's states separated, the US military intensifies its activity, and something known as the “Western Forces” of California and Texas, as well as the “Florida Alliance”. The US president is played by Offerman, while Dunst's character appears to be leading a team of journalists attempting to enter the US Capitol.
