Very soon, HBO will premiere the spinoff series of The Batmanhe HBO Original, The Penguincentered on Oz Cobblepot/Penguin, with the return of Colin Farrell in a leading role.
In the events of the film, The Penguin (Farrell) served as a lieutenant to crime boss Carmine Falcone (John Turturro in The Batman), who meets an untimely end. In the series by showrunner and head writer, Lauren LeFranc, Penguin is stepping up to lead crime in Gotham City.
The plot is set a week after the climax of the film. The Batman. The story will explore Oswald Cobblepot's place in the criminal underworld as Batman becomes a bigger threat to Gotham City's villains.
The series, described as Batman's “epic crime saga,” will expand and develop Batman's vision of Gotham City. Matt Reeves, while seeking to leave his mark on the crime genre.

“Very few women have been able to write these kinds of films or television shows.”
“I think my perspective on Oz, and masculinity in general, is different. And that also made me want to surround him with really interesting and complicated women.In traditional police dramas, women are rarely as interesting as men. So I took this as an opportunity to look at what had been done before me, to respect and honor the genre, and then also to evolve it..”

In addition to Farrell, the cast includes Farrell, Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs, Made For Love), giving life to Sofia Falcone, daughter of Carmine Falcone (Turturro), Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy, Emily the Criminal), Carmen Ejogo (The Crowded Room, Your Honor), Michael Kelly (Jack Ryan, House of Cards), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Renfield), Deirdre O’Connell (Daredevil, The Affair), Rhenzy Happy, Clancy Brown (Dexter), y Michael Blessing (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel).
It has not been revealed whether Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Batman in the series.
The limited series will have its first two episodes directed by Craig Zobel (The Hunt).

And in case you missed it, it was recently confirmed that The Penguin leave the mark behind MAX Originalto be rebranded by the network and called an HBO Original series. This rebranding will be implemented across most of HBO's big-budget intellectual property projects. Warner Bros.
The Penguin will premiere on September 19th in HBO and in MAX.
