Coordination center Nachtleben – happy – Electronic Music from Leipzig

At the beginning of the year, the Nachtleben Leipzig coordination office, which expired. Now the new line -up is officially determined – and it encounters well -shaped opinions.

Anne Petzold will be the LiveKommabmbinat Leipzig e. V. take over the nightlife coordination center. A very important position, as it fulfills an important interface function between the club scene and the politics and administration of Leipzig. In her new role, in addition to coordinating the Nachtrat Leipzig, Anne Petzold is also intended to establish further training and networking offers for the actors: inside the night culture, organize the Central German night culture conference in 2025 and work on the future strategy night culture.

Together with the specialist officer for night culture, Nils Fischer, and the night the night the coordination office forms the message of the night- a staffing that the relevance of club and night culture should illustrate in all directions and find solutions for their current challenges. Grace and criticism

A perfect candidate for the nightlife coordination office – after all, there were 21 applicants: inside? But the mood within the night culture is by no means so clearly agile. A frequently mentioned point is that Anne Petzold chose a person who previously worked more in the institutionalized, economically oriented side of the regional pop and club culture. However, a deeper connection to more alternative areas of club culture cannot be derived from their professional vita. But the extremely various Leipzig night culture also lives very decisively from the free organizers: inside, the non-profit niche programs, the underground labels, the off-spaces and the mostly volunteer collective. They do an important basic work by always providing new impulses and newcomers: building inside and rows, from which particularly established clubs and live music venues benefit economically. So far, there was and has hardly existed an adequate appreciation and strengthening for these parts of the scene, apparently not at the message of the night-apart from the commitment to the Leipzig open-air concept, the local collective legal surfaces for day-raves in the open air.

Sure, the message of the night is an even young superstructure to promote Leipzig night culture. The three pillars are all likely to be in progress. However, it remains to be hoped that the nightlife, which has now been further financed by the city of Leipzig, not only fulfills a purely club-focused function that classifies club culture primarily as an economic location factor and less than socio-cultural and creative development space for a wide variety of marginalized, groups and social utopias.
