The remake will be directed by Gabriela Amaral Almeida (Friendly Beast, The Father’s Shadow).

Variety detalla:

“The remake, currently in pre-production, will feature a remake of the thriller with popular Brazilian actress Isis Valverde in the lead role.”

“The adaptation follows a recently widowed woman and her young daughter as they seek refuge in a secret panic room after burglars invade their home. What they don't know is that intruders are looking for something hidden in the same room in which they have locked themselves.”

Floresta's artistic director, Thiago Teitelroit, shares with the source:

“In addition to an extremely topical plot, we developed an electrifying thriller that also raises an important ethical discussion. The story, a Sony intellectual property, aligns with what we were looking for: a product that allows for great performances from the cast and direction in a narrative capable of attracting a wide audience.”

Regarding his leading role, Valverde shares with Variety:

“2024 has been a challenging but generous year for me, full of possibilities, plans and projects that finally came to fruition. Ending this year with such good news is incredible. Being chosen to play this role is an honor, as is sharing the set with Gabriela Amaral, a truly unique director and wonderful team. I hope to offer a performance full of colors that overflows the screen.”

Fincher's original film stars Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart. The plot follows a mother and daughter trapped in the panic room of their New York home, where recently divorced Meg Altman (Foster) and her daughter, Sarah (Stewart), play a deadly game of cat and mouse with three intruders: Burnham (Forest Whitaker), Raoul (Dwight Yoakam) and Junior (Jared Leto), during a brutal home invasion. But the room itself is the focal point because what the intruders really want is inside it.
