DGA Awards 2025: Directors Guild announces film and TV nominees

He Directors Guild of America (Directors Guild Awards; DGA) announced to everyone the nominees in film categories of the 2025 DGA Award for the best of the year 2024 in feature films.

The possibilities of James Mangold (A Complete Unknown) in the face of the Oscar benefited from their DGA nomination, while the opposite occurred with those of Coralie Fargeat (The Substance) y Denis Villeneuve (Dune: Part Two) having been ignored.

The Achievement in Feature Film Directing category is conformed by Mangold (A Complete Unknown), Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Sean Baker (Anora), Edward Berger (Conclave), y Brady Corbet (The Brutalist).

Corbet won the Golden Globe last Sunday for best director of a film in the drama genre.

Fargeat, whose film has received praise for the way it makes social commentary on feminism and aging through satire, hoped a DGA nomination would help position her for an Oscar nomination. Same case of Villeneuve, who had been nominated for the DGA for his first film. Dune in 2022 and has never won an Oscar as a director.

Fargeat's omission means that the list of DGA-nominated features does not include a woman for the second time in the last five years; Chloe Zhao and Jane Campion won the award in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

The filmmaker The Lee will be honored for lifetime achievement at the 77th Annual DGA Awards.

Additionally, the guild announced its nominees in television, documentary and commercial categories.

Shogun, The Penguin y The Bear led the television categories with three nominations each, while other notable nominees were Ripley, Disclaimer, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks y The Diplomat.

In the variety/interview/news/sports categories, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live y Last Week Tonight With John Oliver received nominations.

Los DGA Awards 2025 will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025 en The Beverly Hilton en Beverly Hills, California.
