AMC Networks has almost everything ready for the launch of the new series Orphan Black: Echoespromoted as a spinoff sequel – although not a direct sequel – to the acclaimed drama Orphan Blackwhose story is set in the same universe as the original series.
The most recent news confirms that the premiere of Orphan Black: Echoes has been set for June 2024 on AMC+, AMC Networks, and BBC America. The announcement is accompanied by a promotional clip revealing the link between the original series and this spinoff. We tell them.
In the promo, we see the protagonist of the story Lucy (Kristen Ritter of Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad), who wakes up in the middle of a therapy session inside a scientific facility, without remembering who he is or what has happened to him. Meanwhile, Dr. Kira Manning (Keeley Hawes of Line of Duty) explains that she has been subjected to a “procedure.”
Lucy explores a laboratory within the facilities, where she finds a kind of tub filled with a pink liquid from which a shell emerges from which she was 'born', thus becoming a clone. Dr. Manning approaches her to explain that she was “created using a complex process, a new technology.”
For those who watched the original series, you will have noticed that the character played by Hawes is Kirathe little daughter of Sarah Manning, one of the many characters played by Tatiana Maslanynow in her version as an adult woman, since the plot takes place in the year 2052.

The first season of 10 episodes is set in the near future, in the year 2052:

CHARACTERS
Ritterwho will also serve as executive producer, will play Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world. In addition to her leading role in Jessica Jonesthe actress' previous television credits include Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, Veronica Marsy Breaking Bad. Ritter returns to AMC for the first time since his role on BB.
Fix will play Jules, a teenager trying to find herself. The newly adopted daughter of wealthy parents, Jules is tough as nails, a little reckless but brutally intelligent.
Jogia will play Lucy's (Ritter) boyfriend Jack, a soft-spoken former military doctor and single father. He has dedicated his life to raising his daughter and discovers that the woman he loves keeps an unimaginable secret.
Hawes, for her part, and as we now know, plays Dr. Kira Manning, daughter of Sarah Manning (Maslany) from the original series.

Echoes is produced and distributed globally by Boat Rocker, the same production company as the original series.
Anna Fishko is the creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer of Orphan Black: Echoes con John Fawcett, the co-creator of the original series, as director and executive producer. David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, executive producers of Boat Rocker on the original series, return as executive producers. Katie O'Connell Marsh, Nick Nantell and Kerry Appleyard also executive produce Boat Rocker.
Orphan Black It caught the attention of critics and the audience, due to the memorable performances of Tatiana Maslany. The series, broadcast from 2013 to 2017, concluded its fifth and final season in August 2017. The science fiction drama focused its plot on Sarah Manning (Maslany), an orphaned woman who witnesses the suicide of a woman identical to her, later revealed like one of his clones. Manning assumes the identity of the deceased, which leads him to discover the beginning of an absorbing conspiracy that aims to murder her and her clone sisters. Maslany played at least ten different characters in the story in an extremely versatile way, being recognized with the Emmy for best actress in a drama series in 2016. She also received nominations for the Golden Globe, the SAG and two other Emmys.
