Elizabeth Olsen He joins other Hollywood stars who demonstrate their love for cinema with actions.
The actress, known mainly for her role as Scarlet Witch in the MCU, shares her passion for cinema in a recent interview with InStyle, to whom she explained why it is essential to see movies on the big screen, in addition to revealing that she will no longer collaborate with films from Hollywood studios without a guaranteed release in theaters.
Olsen I would prefer to star in movies that were released in theatersinstead of them being made only for streaming platforms, something that reminds us of Tom Cruise's position in the industry.
This is what Olsen told the media:
“If a movie is made independently and only sold to a streaming platform, then perfect. But I don't want to do something where [el streaming] be the only thing”.
Continuous:
“I think it's important for people to come together as a community.to see other people, to be together in a space. That's why I like sports. I think it's very powerful when people come together for something they're passionate about.. “We don’t even do in-person auditions anymore.”
While Olsen is known to mainstream audiences for her participation in Marvel's MCU, the actress began her career in independent film, making her debut with Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) and returns to it constantly. Since her last appearance as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), Olsen has only acted in indie film projects, such is the case of His Three Daughters (2023), The Assessment (2024), and the soon to be released Eternity (2025), from A24. Of those three, only His Three Daughters It was distributed by a streaming service – in this case Netflix – although it was given a limited release in select theaters to be eligible for awards.
Regarding the possibility of returning to the MCU, Olsen told InStyle:
“Making movies is fun. It's crazy. It's ridiculous. We're adults, like kids in a park. We fly. We shoot things that get out of our hands. And it's a character I've returned to many times after more than 10 years. It's good to leave her behind, but then I miss her and I want her back. I would love to be in her shoes again.”
In your next film, the rom-com EternityOlsen plays Joan, who finds herself faced with the decision of a lifetime, in the afterlife. The charming premise is set in an afterlife where souls have a week to decide where to spend eternity. Joan must decide if she wants to spend eternity with the man she shared her life with, Larry (Miles Teller), or her first love, Luke (Callum Turner), who died young during the war and has waited for her for decades. It opens in theaters on November 26.
