The graphic novel Criminal is developing its adaptation to the small screen, with the series of Prime Video who has just announced the signing of Emilia Clarke in a leading role, Variety reported.
Clarke, best known for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thronesjoins a cast made up of Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Richard Jenkins (Nightmare Alley), John Hawkes (True Detective), Adria Arjona (Hit Man), Michael Mando (Better Call Saul), Logan Browning (Dear White People), Kadeem Hardison (The Chi), Pat Healy (Station 19), Taylor Sele, Gus Halper (Rustin), Aliyah Camacho (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Marvin Jones III, Michael Xaviery Dominic Burgess (Palm Royale).
Graphic novels were created by Ed Brubaker y Sean Phillips.
The official description states that the series is “an intertwining universe of crime stories.”
Clarke will appear in the role of Mallory, described as “a cunning and daring armed robber, as quick with a gun as she is with her wits. Part of a heist team with Ricky Lawless (Halper), with whom she has a passionate Bonnie and Clyde-style affair, Mallory is a woman on the edge, living outside the law and hiding secrets that will take her and her entire team into the danger zone.”
In addition to his role in the acclaimed Game of ThronesClarke has appeared in Me Before You, Last Christmas, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Pod Generation, Terminator Genisysand the series Secret Invasion.
Brubaker will serve as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Jordan Harper. Other executive producers include Phillips, Sarah Carbiener and Philipp Barnett. Legendary Television is also an executive producer. Amazon MGM Studios produces.
Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden will direct the first four episodes.
